Kawasaki fr691v help

Good morning, I have a Toro ZTR with the Kawasaki fr691v. I went to crank it the other day and it was bellowing white smoke out of the muffler. Oil was not overfilled. After researching it appears as though the head gasket was blown. Also, with it running and smoking when I open the oil field oil was spraying out. I disassembled the engine found very little Carbon on the piston and valves. The cylinders look great. I changed out the head gaskets, cleaned everything and reassembled, set the spacing on the valves, and cinbound7613436967437414156.jpghanged the oil filter and filled to the correct level. It fired right up however is still smoking like a freight train. Any ideas?
 
I don't know if the color is off with the picture or not. That looks like blue smoke. If that's blue smoke, you have an oil burner.
Seeing that's a FR engine and the amount of dust on it and inside the filter box, you might have a big problem.
 
The dust on the outside is from where it's just been sitting out in the barn over the winter. The engine is clean and the filter box is clean. I just haven't pressure washed the outside of the mower yet this season because when I first started up this happened. But yes, the smoke is whitish.


I'm going to remove the muffler this afternoon and run it and see which side the smoke is coming from.
 
Ok then a faulty carb needle and seat. If the smoke is white, leans towards excess fuel in the oil sump.

Pull the oil dip stick and smell for fuel. If you smell gas, STOP running it and fix the carb.
 
Has the top engine shroud been off to CLEAN the cooling fins? Ever? Must be done YEARLY or more often if you bag or run it behind a concrete truck like now. Check your engine manual. It will tell you all about it.

Dude, that is a filthy machine.
 
Please explain exactly how, you check the oil. Or do you check it?

Getting at do you screw the dip stick into the fill tube or not? Makes a difference.

Did the engine gradually start smoking, or all of a sudden when you started it one day? Rarely do Kawasaki engines blow cylinder head gaskets. More likely you have fuel in the oil. Change the oil. Other smaller possibility is worn rings or valve seals.
