A neighbor asked me for help to replacing a new Kohler CV742 engine on his John Deere ZT 270A mower since the old engine was blown. He removed the old engine by himself without my help. Once we had replaced the blown engine with the new Kohler CV742 engine and using the electrical diagram on the Kohler CV742 engine, we were able go connect the electrical wiring correctly. The issue now is that the John Deere ZT 270A has two fuel lines connected to the gas tank. We were able to connect one gas fuel line to the fuel filter. We are unable to find where to connect the second gas fuel line. I have searched the internet for an answer and have been unable to find an answer on where to connect second gas fuel line. In viewing the manual on the Kohler CV742 engine all of the fuel lines came properly connected in the engine and only needed one gas fuel line connected to the fuel filter. He does not remember where the second gas fuel line was connected on the old engine. We started the mower and the mower is running great with the new engine. The second fuel is not flowing with gas and he has pinched off the second fuel line and he is now using the mower. He also said that he only has one fuel tank and not two fuel tanks. The mower runs fines with one gas fuel line connected to the fuel filter. The blown Kohler engine was the original engine that came with the mower when he bought the John Deere ZT 270A new. The new CV742 engine is the engine that a John Deere dealership sold him and the dealership said that this engine was the required engine for this model mower. The dealership also said that this engine has had several reversions since the original version.

Does anybody have any idea on where the second gas fuel line needs to be connected or does the new model of the Kohler CV742 engine require a connection of a second gas fuel line?

I suspect that second fuel line is actually the tank vent/evaporative vapor line Check out items 9,10, and 11 on this diagram https://www.partstree.com/models/cv...ne-basic-version-25hp-747cc/08-fuel-system-7/
which will suggest were the second line would attach to the new engine. Item 10 is normally located next to the fuel pump christmas tree fastened to the sheet metal. the new engine most likely has the rubber cap on it, and that cap would need removed to hook up the vent line.from the top of the fuel tank.

Are you sure it is a 270A and not a 720A as 270A comes back as a Backhoe?
