Hi there. I just replaced the deck belt on my old John deere LA125. Went to start it up and it's trying to turn the blades as the engine turns over, even though the blade leaver is disengaged. Any ideas? I'm not very mechanically minded, so sorry if the answer is obvious.

The new should be 103-3/4" OD x 1/2" wide. IF not using OEM belt double check its length. Otherwise check the belt routing.

Ok so I measured the belt, it's 260.5cm/102.55inch long, which is obviously too short. Frustrating as the John deere mob were certain it was the right belt. So that would be why it's trying to spin the blades? The belt being too tight in there?

You always need to have the model & serial number with you when you buy JD parts as they do change things during a production run.
If the belt is still pretty clean they might exchange it but do not be surprised if they won't .

And that don't always guarantee you will get the right belt either. I have one that they insisted they were giving me the right belt per the serial number but it was 1-1/2" too long. Everytime the customer stopped the drive belt would fall off.

They could be giving you the right PN but the belt itself is the wrong length. It won't be the first that has happen either. A&I belts are known to be shorter than what they says are. AND A&I is the after market belts that JD sells here.
