I have also failed to realize how handy a picture could be ... until I need it... I now take a Lot of pictures, because it's easy with a phone/camera...
John Deere has not a lot of sites carrying their parts diagrams, so it could be tough finding what you need on line... BUT the JD180 is a popular design and I bet you could find several in your neighborhood... Drive around on a wkend and if you see someone mowing their lawn on a similar John Deere.. .Stop and tell them of your predicament... I'm sure almost anyone would allow you the opportunity to take a few pictures ... And there is also a good possibility that someone here will Post some pictures for you... Good luck & post back with the outcome.. :smile:KennyV
I've got the technical manual which tells me how to tear my engine apart...But not how to attach the mower deck.
Searching the JD site I found some images, but they are "Breakout" parts images so I cant realy tell what goes where.
maybe I'll just run to the local JD store and snap a few pictures before they kick me out

The spring goes to your lift linkage and it is the assist spring to help lift the mower deck. It goes on the right side of the machine. If you can look at a model 180 or 185 you will see how it goes.
