Input as I prepare to buy a ZTR

We have had a JD G110 (sold at big box store) for 8 years and for our 3 acre lot, it has been a continual maintenance hassle. Typically replacing axle/spindle and steering sector gears every 1 1/2 seasons. Lots of obstacles to mow around. I have looked at ExMark, Kubota, Grasshopper, JD, Simplicity, Toro...all at local lawn sales/service centers. Not a fan of Briggs & Stratton engines. Def want a fabricated deck and 18000 fps blade speed. Gas tank size not high on priority. Suspension ride or seat is high on list. New to the forum, ready for your feedback! Thanx in advance!!

Welcome To LMF JG-Fanboi:laughing:

Nice spread of brands/desires. But, the bigger question is: How far do we get to empty yo pockets.
Just like House Hunters, the granite counter tops are a $$$ upgrade....

4 Key points:
1-$$$
2-Motor
3-Tranny
4-Deck

I don't know if they meet your other requirements, but 2 mowers that have good suspension / suspension seats are Ferris and some Exmark Lazer Z's. See details below:

Good basic considerations!!!! With 3 acres, lots of obstacles and the JD repair history user imracefan24 should allocate enough $$$ to at least invest in an entry-level Commercial ZTR. Like you said, if we were to recommend with a bottomless pocket of money we would probably put him in an $8K-$9K Industrial grade Commercial ZTR:0)

I am sure everybody on here has opinions and they can back their opinions up with facts. I run Kubotas and as far as I can tell there are Kubotas and then there are others. If you are willing to pay the price Kubota will be very hard to beat.

I agree you can not beat a kubota.
They cost more than the OTHERS but well worth the money

IMO JD is at the bottom of the food chain

I think the mower that best fits your criteria is the Gravely Pro Turn. The 52" should be able to be had for $6300. It has the Kawi FS motor (commercial grade), zt3200 hydros (step up from the zt3100 that are usually in this price range), same deck geometry as the highly regarded X-Factor II (just 10 ga instead of 7 ga and lacks some adjustable baffles), and the seat is very comfortable. I just demoed it last week on my property. The seat itself has very comfortable foam, but doesn't have a spring/damper suspension. Have to go higher up the line for that. It does have rubber isolators between seat and frame. Overall way more comfortable than my Huster Sport which does have springs.

Other mowers I think worth considering are the Hustler FasTrak and the Bad Boy CZT Elite. I don't know anything about the Bad Boy other than the price, engine (Kawi FS), and tranny (zt3400) meet your requirements. The Hustler has only zt3100 tranny, but I like the control better and has longer warranty than Gravely.

It seem like JD, Kubota, and Exmark are great, but have to go over $7k to meet your requirements. Toro MX might fit the bill, but isn't as compelling as the Gravely and Hustler.

You can buy a Kubota for 0 down and 0 interest. You can even get it insured through Kubota and pay it monthly through your payment. It is the best deal out there if you are going to keep it for the long haul and if you are going to run it hard. Nothing is tougher than a Kubota.

After researching the stew out of zero turn mowers I went with the Kubota Kommander 127S. I looked at all other brands and kept coming back to the kubota. 4year 300 hr warranty that encludes the engine and built like a tank with no extra baggage (ok suspension seat and LED lights). Mow about 2.5-3acreas with it (sloped with terraces), coming from a tractor and finishing mower. Did it speed up my mowing time NO! because my son and I were fighting over who was going to cut what. Cut is excellent and fast. Havent cut with any of the others so I cannot comment, take all the advise here and choose what you will be happy with. Priced at $5749.00 plus tax.

Great input from all!! I have been to 6 ZTR mower dealers with 25 miles of my home...talking to each about their input...and I am very surprised that NONE of them asked for name/number to follow up on the sales opportunity. Only 1 called me back after I called each dealer to ask for a price on an option I requested. I am in sales for a lving and was diappointed by the lack of effort.
With that said, I also want to throw out that in 5-10 yrs there is a good chance we'll down size to 1.5 acres. But, I nopw am leaning to the Kubota....input via the forum, a friend in the golf course maintenance business, and the sales/service dealer's proximity to my home are the main reasons for my leaning.

My personal recommendation would be to look at a Gravely Pro-Turn and a Toro Z-Master 2000 series and then compare those to others you look at in regard to build, components, warranties and price.

Well, the Bama Boy is a winner. After all comparison of features wanted, price restriction, and future service/warranty.....the winner is the Kubota 127S!! Have only been on it once, and it so much more comfortable than the JD G110. I cut my mowing time by 25% already (from 4 hrs. to 3 hrs) that includes reduced time of push mowing. I am actually looking forward to the mowing!! Thanx for all the input provided, it's the whole reason I joined!!

Congratulations on your new ZTR!!! When you've got time take and post some pictures(we wanna see your new big boy toy:0)

Did they still have the $500 introductory discount? Definitely a good deal at approx. $5800, but I'd get a little hesitant at $6,300. IMHO, if Kubota wants to stay competitive with this new Residential ZTR line they need to keep the Introductory price as the regular price.

I have been researching a new ZTR also, and I am leaning towards the Kubota. What engine options did you have Would rather have a Kawasaki than the kohler. Any concerns so far?
Any problems with the depth selector?

I really don't think you will be sorry with your purchase..I have one also with a 54" deck. Gosh I love the thing, has a GREAT cut and PLENTY of power with the Kohler 27hp.

Another thing...it saves me a lot of time. Mows great at full speed.

You might go over to the Kubota specific page. A few of us have listed a couple things that you might find interesting like...if you decide to keep ROPS bar on.

Stay safe and keep us up to date...

Have you noticed anything about your kubota now that you have had it a little while? I am looking at the same mower. Narrowed it down to a Husqvarna M ZT 52 or the ZG 127S. Your thoughts?

I can get the Huskie for $4900 vs $5749 is it worth the difference in your opinion

Thanks
