If you won a prize and the prize was a mower and you could pick ANY mower you wanted, which mower would you pick. Price was no object.

What are you talking about?

When my neighbor looked at my little lawnboy 2-cycle push mower and suggested I needed a self-propelled lawnmower I told him I had one. His name is Luke but he's on a camping trip this weekend so I have to do it myself.

If price were no object I'd just hire it done.

I already have a top of the line zero turn, so I would have to say the JD 1585 or 1600 Terrain Cut.

Uses a laser to cut the grass. Built on the front of a Mercedes smart car. Even has internet. I could post on lawnmower forum while mowing the lawn. He said if money was no object. Think they have a $30000 price tag on them. Who wouldn't want to use a laser to mow their lawn? :)

My wife just bought one, complete with the dial-a-butt seat and a striping kit. Now we fight over who gets to mow the five acres of lawn around the house. That never happened with the old Cub Cadet.

Lol, bet she had to change her shorts after that ride. My wife always wants to use our zero turn, but I'm afraid she will either run it in the ditch that surrounds our property, or run over something in the yard. I am training my 11 year old daughter though.

I made her get back on it and drive it out of the ditch.

She is getting better. But still will only get 2 feet from a tree.

Cool looking mower, but a little bulky for the average lawn. I bet it could really cover some open ground though. Kubota makes great equipment.

I'm waiting for the one that has a gravity gas tank with a drain valve and a carburetor bowl with a drain valve so I can drain that nasty no good alcohol gas after each time I mow.

I have found out that one of our gasoline stations in our area has regular gasoline with out alcohol. I use it in all my things now even my truck, it cost about the same as hi octane gas but it gets improved mileage so I think it comes out about the same as 87 octane even at the higher price.

Ok! I was thinking of asking this topic but I have some criteria for a new lawn tractor based on my yard and the need to plow snow in the winter...

1. Must be able to outfit with snow plow blade, chains and weights for 160 ft. X 10 ft. driveway plus some yard around the two main entrances;
2. I'm mowing 2.5 acres, some of it up to the 15 degree max slope, about half of that is relatively flat;
3. Would like to be able to manually control the mower deck/snow blade height when mowing or plowing with a lift-handle for various terrain mowing (lifting mower deck over high mounds where a tree stump has been covered over) and for lifting the blade as you push snow against a bank;
4. Easy to work on, simple to install/remove deck/plow, affordable parts
5. I'm not sure about the type of drive or whether you can even get belt-driven mower decks anymore since direct-drive seems to be more popular nowadays

I currently have an 18 yr. old Cub Cadet but in looking over the current Cub models seems like I'll have a hard time finding a similarly matched model.
What I'm seeing on the backs of trailers hauled by lawncare services are a lot of Poulan tractors - they look simple and fairly sturdy. Wondered what others think about them?
Thanks,
greynold99

For ethanol-free gas, try this site:

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

It listed two stations in my area. Both are a bit of a drive, but my riding mower runs SOOOO much better with the ethanol-free gas.
Just for the record, most of these stations are near marinas or other boat docks...
