Welcome to the LMF! I look forward to seeing your posts. Cadet makes a good mower.

Thanks Dave. It's my 1st Cub Cadet. Hope it's a good one. Looked at JD and Huskies but ultimately I liked the features on the Cub better. Wanted a zero turn. Oh well, maybe next time

Would you get a Cub Cadet zero-turn if you were to get one?

I was actually looking at the Toro zero turn but I would have considered Cub Cadet also

Yeah, the Toro would probably be better...which one, the Timecutter?

Yes. I like the 2 speed choices on that model

I do too. I was looking at that over the summer (along with a Husqvarna), but decided to just buy another Honda. I was looking at reviews for it and some people said that it slipped when going up hills, but that will happen with a lot of small residential ZTR's because they are fairly light. From what I remember most of the rest of the reviews were positive.

Agreed. Ultimately the legion of poor reviews on John Deere turned me off. Also I looked at a few that were only a few years old and the decks were all rusted. Looked around for a vintage Deere with a Kawasaki engine but prices on those are unrealistic.

Where did you look--Craigslist??

A few on craigslist, a couple at auctions or estate sales. Looked at about 10 or 12 but the newer ones didn't seem to age well and the older LT models with Kawasaki engines where selling for crazy prices

I guess things are just not made how they used to be...and if you want something build well (an older mower), you will need to pay for it.

Last auction I went to a John Deere LT130 circa 1990 with4 flat tires that wouldn't even start sold for $425. Crazy

 Wow! That seems expensive!!

That was my top dollar if it ran, gears all worked and pto engaged. People get carried away at auctions. I do my research and I write down my top offer before the bidding begins and I don't move off that.

That is smart! Since you just bought the Cub Cadet mower, how long do you think it will be until you consider a ZTR?
