Hustler sd 60" seems to lose power on sudden change of direction

From engine sound if I make a sudden backup of the mower the engine seems to almost die then picks backup to normal. What is this an indication of, or is this nomal?

Water in the float bowl will do this
As will a fuel level in the bowl that is too low.

Get your problem figured out?

We had a fella not too long ago that had a problem with engine shutting down when he turned. Turns out his seat switch was loose that would allow the switch plunger pop out too far and kill the engine when he turned one direction, not the other.
