huster raptor sputter in engine

i have a hustler raptor mower with a kohler 7000 series engine..it has started to sputter like its running out of gas..i am going to change the fuel filter to see if that helps..what else should i check?

If you do not perform any routine maintenance, like once a year (such as replace spark plugs, engine filter replacement, oil and oil filter replacement, fuel filter replacement, add fuel additive to gas tank when filling up and don't leave any gas in the engine over an extended long period of time-bad for the engine, etc.) on any engine.....if not performed....well at some point your going to start having problems with it.
