Husqvarna YTH2448 Carb

Recently was given a Husqvarna YTH2448 mower powered by a 24 Hp Briggs ELS 725 twin (model 446677-0463-E1).
This mower was practically new with 33 hours on the meter and showing virtually no wear! Bad news - it sat in a garage for 16 years with no attention. Been going through it and came to the Carburetor which is a mess. Completely gummed up with a black tarry substance that resists most known solvents. Time to just replace the carb. But with what? It is a Nikki marked R - L on top like one of the two variants shown in the B&S parts list; but the float bowl and fuel solenoid resemble the other carb in the parts list. Plus the plastic jet holder is slightly different. Found a lot on Amazon but none that exactly matched mine. Has anybody else been down this rabbit hole and what did you do? Aside from the difference in choke linkage how did you deal with the fuel solenoid mounted horizontally instead of vertically? The only Briggs part number I came up with was 699709 but no clue as to which illustration in the perts list that was! Ideas?

Part number 699709 is the downward facing fuel solenoid but appears to supercede to 791230 which appears to be a side facing fuel solenoid.

The 699709 has a steel fuel bowl which bad to rust up. That fuel bowl was replaced with an aluminum one. Even that PN is not listed as a replacement for the steel bowl anymore but I still have 5 of them. 699709 carb is currently superseded to 791230.

Thanks IL, That would explain why I'm not finding anything under 699709 that looks like my carb. Hopefully, the side facing solenoid will clear the governor linkage...
Interesting how Briggs lists different jet for altitude and even R/L in the same carb but the aftermarket seems to be, 'whatever we have is exactly what you need'!

Get a simple bolt and sealing washer at the local hardware. Throw the solenoid in the trash. Maybe some fuel rated sealing type sealant on the threads or pipe dope. Don't know if pipe dope is fuel rated. Permatex I bet makes some.

Another solenoid hater in the house.....

Okay do you got a hardware store that has M8-1.00 x 5mm screws? None around here carry these. Even McMasters only goes down to 10mm. So that is a lot grinding.

Thanks Star, Yep. My carb has the steel bowl. No rust but then it's so well coated in gunk it couldn't possibly rust! I keep fooling with the old one, maybe I'll get it to work enough to check out the rest of the mower. Blind Hog finds an acorn every now and then...

Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware should all have metric. I don't know if they'll have an M8 that's 5mm long. I'd use a cutoff wheel rather than a grinder.
