Recently was given a Husqvarna YTH2448 mower powered by a 24 Hp Briggs ELS 725 twin (model 446677-0463-E1).
This mower was practically new with 33 hours on the meter and showing virtually no wear! Bad news - it sat in a garage for 16 years with no attention. Been going through it and came to the Carburetor which is a mess. Completely gummed up with a black tarry substance that resists most known solvents. Time to just replace the carb. But with what? It is a Nikki marked R - L on top like one of the two variants shown in the B&S parts list; but the float bowl and fuel solenoid resemble the other carb in the parts list. Plus the plastic jet holder is slightly different. Found a lot on Amazon but none that exactly matched mine. Has anybody else been down this rabbit hole and what did you do? Aside from the difference in choke linkage how did you deal with the fuel solenoid mounted horizontally instead of vertically? The only Briggs part number I came up with was 699709 but no clue as to which illustration in the perts list that was! Ideas?
