Hi, recently added new throttle cable, (never again), what a fiddle. Works fine, but speed has been reduced. Flooring the pedal, is limited to travel. How can i get my speed back. thanks.

Please post all engine numbers, so we can see what you have. It would also help if you posted a pic of how the throttle cable is attached to the engine.

Cable is not clamped in the correct position.
Yes it is a fun job

Bert is probably right, I just want to see his setup and engine to tell him how to fix it.

hi, engine number 28H707 1291-E1 00041720. Cable is attached at rear under transmission cover, the one held with 2 screws that houses gear box oil filler , etc. Cable is attached at front to acccel pedal. .When you hold down pedal, there does not appear to be any more to have, as Engine lever is fully deployed. I cannot pull it up any further. I am 77 and disabled, so not easy.. Machine does not go as fast as it did on old cable, and when you drive, foot pedal is fully depressed. Ideas please. john

Let’s take a step back, because I’m confused. Are we talking about engine speed or ground speed? Makes a big difference as to how we proceed. If it is ground speed, we will need units model and serial numbers. Pics will be helpful either way.

Hi, its ground speed. To my mind the old cable allowed the mower to ride quicker. I have a john deere, which is much faster. I want machine to cover the ground faster. Husqvarna Rider 16H. Engine number, you have. Motor, briggs, 28N707. What else do you need.

So the cable you replaced was the transmission cable to the hydro not the throttle cable to the engine

Berts, yup, sorry for confusion. In my limited knowledge i assumed it was the throttle cable, . Its the one that goes from foot pedal to Hydro.

I had fearful trouble connecting cable end to foot pedal.

Are you sure that you did not replace th brake cable? Download this manual, which may allow you to better describe the problem. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...W0001005.pdf&usg=AOvVaw0ObgqjOt5HlcxlYH4ANXR6

Thank you for the manual. According to your manual, i replaced the Hydrostatic transmission cable, which, in my language, as you press pedal to move mower, forwards, was throttle cable, but obviously not. Sorry about that. So, to move on, when you press pedal down, mower moves forward, but not as quickly , as it used to.. My question is, how do i speed it up. What adjustments are there, if any.

Reading the manual there are adjusters. To make it go quicker, i presume you adjust to make cable shorter, thus giving more movement on foot pedal. Is this as you guys see it. thanks. john

The control arm is spring loaded to reverse because a single cable can only pull not push.
There should be some M8 adjusting nuts in the cable inside the tunnel that are near impossible to turn without modifying a spanner to do the job .
We get mostly the EU version down here which is substantially different to the USA version ( rider pro to pro rider ) .
The EU version is substantially better made with a lot more adjustments than the USA version which has been designed down to a price
