Just scored one off of CL for $30. It needs a pull start rope and a carb rebuild. I can get it to start for a few seconds but then it stalls. Anyone have any advise on the carb rebuild ??

Even with the non-Honda wheels and the rope start, that's a heck of a deal.

Check these out for information on cleaning the carb on that engine.

For a video on disassembly, go to the Service tab, Service Movies, then GX series carburetor cleaning guide.

I'd recommend replacing the two gaskets you'll find between the carb and engine block when you go to put the carb back on. #13 and 15 on the diagram.

That one runs right around $50 to $60, on average.

removed the carb and opened up the float bowl. Water inside causing rust which blocked the main jet. Cleaned everything and plopped it back on. Started the first pull and run like a tank. Not a puff of smoke and sounded like a monster. I am giving it to a friend for a gift..:)

Great! Gotta' love it when things go the way they should. It'll make a really good mower for your friend.
