Hand out business cards. Tell your contracts to tell there friends and family.

the best way to get more business is to hand out business cards but the most important is to go the extra mile for the customers you have so they will be happy with the work and tell others about how good a job your doing word of mouth is the best advertisement you can invest in good luck
Word of mouth works great but you may need to pass out many door hangers in the beginning to get customers so that they can eventually brag about your great work. 16 years ago, I started my company and have been doing door hangers ever since. Over the past 3 years we came up with a method of giving instant online quotes through our website. We simply drive all of the business to our website through our advertisement such as door hangers. Customers go to our site and simply type in their address and receive an instant quote for the services that we perform. Most sign up for our services right on our site. We receive an email that they did and contact them to put them on our route. We also developed acculawnsystems.com to help other lawn care companies do the same thing. Check it out.

Word of mouth, flyers, business cards, and yard signs (in your yard and your customers' lawns).
the best way that my friends and I get our business is by word of mouth and the way we market our business posting ads and business cards. Going the extra mile like said before does improve your image to other people for instance, if there is a bit more clean up than expected especially this time of year it is great to do that for the customer, quality and good personal attitude frames your work. But building up a big clientele list never happens over the next few hours.

Exactly, that's why I said put up yard signs, so people will be like "That yard looks amazing....and I see "JIMMY'S MOWING" (just an example:laughing did it. I am going to call them!"

I think what he means is he wanted an answer for when I said "Kinda and not all the time." not about the Ferris. I have done lawn care since I was 8 so kinda pro and I don't use the Ventrac for a lot of stuff outside of my own yard yet. Does this help with the confusion?:confused2:
The beat way that our company found to get more customers is by giving instant online quotes. We have tried this method for the past three years and have seen great results. For example, our busiest time to give bids is March and April. During that time we gave over 1000 online bids and gained 24% of the business from those bids without wasting much time and fuel. We created a program that can help your company get results by using the same method. Check it out at acculawnsystems.com.
Thanx Man! And yes I have attempted to not only surround myself with good people, but good equipment.
My LCC has not been handed down to me, but I will hand it down to my oldest son....
All those things like cards, flyers and car magnets are great, but you have to get online. Do right by the new clients and that will get your word of mouth business going. I used a local lead generation service, very affordable, good guys to work with. Its called Lawn Service Network. They really helped me get going.

I started up last August and for me hands down the most productive advertising that I have done has been on Facebook. In fact I use it almost exclusively and it is free. Getting. Jobs and the. Doing a good job gets you word of mouth from people who are not on Facebook.

word of mouth is your best and doing a real great job shows it. Always go the extra mile for your customers and it will take you far. I do that and I also do Craigslist ads but most work comes from the people who talk and the people who loves the work I do . I wish you the best of luck
First I generated a friend's list of over 2000. Ten there are numerous advertising groups or buy sell and trade groups on Face book. I hit three or four of them daily with an ad. It is free and it gets me more business than any other method I have tried. I have picked up 12 or 13 full time yards and many many that wold need a yard cut one time or possibly had a mower but not time to cut every time it needed cutting. I have also cut several that a neighbor of somebody would hire me to cut a yard because the person was sick or out of town for some issue and they would have their yard cut as a surprise gift......
