I've recently started to consider small engine repair a hobby, I've allways been interested though. I had to rebuild the carb on my self propelled snapper and for some reason that set it off. I've been hooked ever since,,

it is a great hobby, never ending flow of people dropping small engine items off to get fixed. i work on things everyday after my real job. rebuilt a carburetor last night and cleaned fuel tank, new fuel lines etc on a power washer, messed with a few mowers etc. need to put more on for sale.

Yes it can be addicting, half of it is the thrill of the chase and the other half is fixing it and the other half is selling it. that is 1 1/2 times the fun.)

With all that business with your lawn mowers how do you keep the government's hands out of your pocket or do you pay all the taxes?? I know as for myself I keep my repairs very small keyed, pay retail for parts with the sales taxes, only do word of mouth business repairs, no signs, and cash only. I have to charge a little more for parts this way but I can keep my labor charge down. I always give the customer the option to buy there own parts but find they don't want to.

it is a hobby remember, i actually do not make profit, i put all of the $$ back into other equipment. I do have reciepts as well for all of the retail parts i buy. it is a losing game. but fun
