After JDGREEN told his story, I thought I would tell mine. Was mowing 3 acres with an old MTD and a Craftsman lawn mower and using my old JD H to push snow.:frown: Needed to up grade so my wife suggested I get something bigger to do both mowing and snow removal. I looked around and could not find what I was looking for. The Massey dealer in my area took my to a farmer that had a GC2300 with MMM, FEL, rototiller and rear snow blower, just what I was looking for. Made a had hand shake deal with one of the brothers that owned the tractor but when the dealer went to pick it up for me the other brother wanted another $1000 for the blower.:frown: I said no way and walked away. About a month later the tractor went up for auction and I went to the sale to bid on it, went early in the morning and guess what was the last thing sold in the late afternoon, the tractor and it went to high. When I got home and told my wife, she said just buy a new one.:confused2: Why didn't she just say that in the first place. Well I went back to the Massey dealer and he gave me a great deal on a new GC2400, I think he was upset that the original deal fell through and it looked bad on him so he gave me a deal that his boss didn't really like but I sure did and of course the wife was happy. And thats what really matters.:laughing: because it the wifes not happy, no one is happy.:laughing:
Glad you got a deal on the new one. Sometimes wives need to be a little more clear when they "give us permission" to buy new toys. I've gone the used route before also only to find out later that she meant just go buy a new one.

My wife is the exact opposite in her spending habits that I am, I keep a budget (for 30 years now) and know where every buck I spend goes. She is the exact opposite. I paid for the tractor with MY money and she would have been foolish to argue the point with me.

Wow, did you make out! What a sweet machine. And it looks like it's doing a bang-up job on your lawn!
