Hour meter

I have a toro ZX5400 mower and the mower has actually aroud 550-600 hours on it and the hour meter shows 1150.

any ideas ?

If someone lets the key in the RUN position, the hour meter keeps on turning.

Leave it turned on for another 9000 hours & the meter will roll over to 0 again.
But please disconnect the fuel solenoid or you will burn it out.

I believe that Toro mowers only count hours when an operator is IN the seat..

That,s what my dealer told me.

No idea why it would show double, unless the internal clock runs at 120Hz instead of 60Hz ?
