Honda hrm215 cutting issues

My hrm 215 has issues when the grass is thick or gets a little tall, the blades bog down, otherwise it still runs great, mzbb-6054758. Sxa 1994 model plastic deck 2 speed drive, if I dont cut every 3 days or so it takes twice as long to cut. Anyone have the same issues, if so what new parts were needed?

Hmmmm. I'd check your valve clearance. As the rocker arms wear, it's possible your valves aren't opening to specs. I know adjusting the valve clearance on 4 stroke model airplane engines makes a HUGE difference in power.

Check idle and full throttle engine speed. You'll need a small gas engine tach

Idle (throttle set to SLOW, blade control lever RELEASED) should be 1,700 +/- 150 rpm
Full throttle (throttle set to FAST, blade control lever ENGAGED) should be 3,150 — 3,300 rpm

If not to spec, adjust throttle cable, governor linkage, clean/replace carburetor, check engine compression, new spark plug, the basics...

Thanks, checked the rpms and adjusted, now is cutting a lot better. Best 22 year old mower in the county
