Hi all.
We bought a Craftsman push mower last summer with the Honda GCV160 engine.
After just a month, the engine started cutting out, then would not start.
I took the carb off and blew it out with Carb Cleaner. Fixed.
This summer after a few uses, same problem. I had to do a more
extensive cleaning on the carb, removing the jet and soaking it
overnight. That seemed to fix it. I wanted to add a fuel filter
and bought a 150 micron Briggs and Stratton Filter. But the
line between the shut off valve and carb is too small, 1/8 ID
and the line between the tank and the valve is too big, almost
3/8 ID.

Any ideas? It does have a screen in the fuel tank outlet,
hard to see what getting through that to clog carb but something is.

Lots of people have the same problem with this engine too.
Thanks
Mike

I can see your problem seeing most filters come 1/4 or 5/16 sizes. I do see some filters on E-bay that are 3/8 so you might want to try your local auto parts store. Another idea would be to cut a small peace of hose to make a spacer on the filter fitting.

Hi Mike,

A hobby shop would have a filter for the 1/8" line, made for model airplanes.

Thanks :) Thats a good idea.
Both of the lines on this engine seem to an odd size.
