Honda GC160 - Valve Busted through engine housing

I just recently purchased a used pressure washer with a Honda GC160 engine.

The engine appeared to be running great. However, on the second day of use, there was a loud metal noise and abruptly stopped the Honda engine.

Upon inspection, the rod on the intake valve had broken and it had punched a hole through the engine housing in two spots.

Any idea why this would happen? I suppose that there is no repairing this, unless I found another parts engine.

Thoughts? Pictures posted.

Pictures below: (you can where the valve busted through, it first busted through just above the spark plug hole.

That's different.
The head is obviously scrap metal
There is a better than average chance there will be a nice big hole in the piston to go with it and if you are really lucky a bent con rod just to round out the trilogy.
So you are right the engine is now spare parts.

It has dropped a valve, no surprise there.
Most likley cause would be a defect in the valve stem but I would need a macrograph ( fancy name for a close up picture ) of both ends of the valve stem .
I don't see any necking so fatigue would be the prime suspect but without a lot more information it is all guess work.

Over reving can accelerate fatigue failures as can over heating.
Too sharp a corner on the collet slot makes matters worse.

Post the full engine & mower numbers and that nice Mr Robert will let you know where you stand with Honda.
They take these sorts of failures very seriously.

From the pictures I can see that some one was in that engine before.
