I have a gx620 on my Hustler. It's over 20 years old. It started a oil leak this spring. With mowing season over I want to take care of it. My question is, seeing that the gx620 is no longer available, should I try to find a replacement engine or have the present engine repaired. I see there is a gx630 but not sure if it would be a direct fit. Any advice is appreciated.

Look at the spec sheet on both, mainly the footprint / mounting bolts , shaft size etc.

Going from the old GX twin series to the new GX twin series is a little more complicated due to Honda doing a redesign a few years back. The ignition when from a open to run to closed to run which means the ignition modules have to be grounded to spark, which requires a different key switch and other wiring changes. Also they changed the engine design and when to a semi-hemi style head which resulted in the exhaust mounting studs being at a different angle then the old engine.
