How much per hour is your skill worth. Times how long it will take.

Me personally charge 35 an hour plus disposal fees and gas so its really more like 40 an hr

When it comes to hedge trimming we do a lot and I never ever charge per hour because we trim to much in an hour. I always charge a price to do the job so the customer know exactly how much itle be and I never had any issues with no customer price wise it comes about to 100 to 150 an hour. But we are very well equip and we offer quality work. I found out after doing a lot of hedges that customers don't mind paying extra money to have the job done right

I hear that all of the time. What do you base your price on? If you do to base it on time then how do you come up with a price. Is it by the mood you wake up in or how much gas you have in our truck or what ever else? I hear people make that statement a lot on here but there has to be something for a measuring stick to determine how much o charge.

Well I do bid by job but when I come up with the price I consider my hourly rate say I think a job will take 4 hours I say 175 dollars for the job. You have to also consider difficulty off job if I had a 4 hour job with 25 foot arbs they want walled and formal I would probably be close to 300 as I will be up on a ladder moving around a very sharp piece of equipment in odd ways.

If I had a job with a bunch of shrubs you formal prune into globes super easy 175

Natural pruning takes much more time and few people can do it properly I would charge 250 all these are 4 hour half days jobs. Never tell the customer the hourly rate. If you bid a job 4 hours and it takes you 3 the customer will only want to pay for 3.

That part I understand. The part I do not understand and is how they come up with a price without ever establishing time and what one desires to make an hour....

Time does figure into it.
They just did not understand what you was asking.

Ok let's say you want $40 per hour plus $20 to haul off the clippings.
Now say you think it will take you two hours
Two hours times $40 plus $20. You charge $100

(Hourly rate + estimated time)+overhead+markup if you feel as such = job time
