First off, this is my first post here and this seems to be a very well organized site with great admins. Now for the question. I have a grasshopper 928d2 circa 2003 that has encountered a starting issue. When you turn the key to start, it fires up normally, but when you let go of the key and it falls back to the ON position, it shuts off. If you hold the key to start, it will continue to run but the starter is engaged the whole time, which is bad. Thoughts? I replaced the ignition switch about a year to year and a half ago. Would it go bad so soon?

I have seen this problem on other brands, but don't work on many hoppers. Possibly a bad oil pressure sensor or safety switch someplace. I would lean more toward a sensor of some sort though.

WELCOME to LMF...
Good to have Another Diesel powered mower here.

If it is not an interlock switch...
Check the fuel solenoid... If it has a 3 wire solenoid, you have a Pull circuit that is working... BUT the Hold circuit is Not.
Post back with what you find at the fuel solenoid.. :smile:KennyV
