Honda is a cheap replacement. I would try to find an old Suzuki 5hp 4 cycle old... But powerful old commercial engine
4 cycle? Yours is a 2 cycle ins't it? I've read those are almost indestructible if you maintain them at all.

Yeah thanks for the info I forgot they use honda engines to I'm gonna do some research cause I don't know if it will work but the John deere 14sb has a kawasaki engine the looks similar if the block and shaft of the engine is the same I can use the covers and gas tank ect. That I have and strip it down to the block and redress it with the covers or my second choice is I found a brand new fj180v kawsaki Engine which is the same thing I had on it for 175.00+75 in shipping it was a store display model so it's never been run.

And no mine came with the 4stroke fj180v I seperated the block and every thing once I knew the engine was junk and it was the worst motor I've ever seen it had tons of sludge so I bet no one ever changed the oil hardly

I saw one on CL today. The guy wants 100 for it and its missing a rear wheel and has a few more problems. I usually see them for 50 to 75 in better shape.

I'd take an fj180 ;) I don't see any problem with the Honda engine though. Starts easy and has plenty of power. Honda engines seem easier to find and cheaper but 250 for a new engine sounds good.
Any ideas on the best mulching blades for these mowers?

I would offer the guy with the Suzuki Engine 75 the rest of the mower can be scraped if necessary. Slap the engine on the exmark you wont regret it

To be honest I have no clue what blades to use on these mowers cause this is the first one I've owned and I have bigger problems on it than the blade lol but on my metro 26 I use a regular blade I don't mulch when the grass is dry it cuts it up to where u can't see it and if its wet I can still cut and I put on my side discharge and it works great for wet grass if u have a mulching blade and the grass is wet u might as well put the mower away

If you are willing to order go to jacks small engines.com and type in exmark blades but I'm sure a local dealer will have them to
