Generac/ Dixie Chopper carburetor bleed air jet O-rings.

Here some info I got when I was working as a small engine tech. Yeah we did a lot of generators and some the had old stale fuel so the carburetor work was part of that work.
By the way Most potrables are two pole generators, but RV generators are 4 pole with larger engines and less noise.
Most generator failure were caused by overloading OR backfeed when the power came back on. Usually toasted the stator and was too expensive to repair

Hope this helps.

Hi B.,

I knew most of the portable generators are 2-pole to keep them affordable, but I have not dealt with many RV models except for servicing and carburetor replacement. I was not aware that they were 4-pole designs. Makes sense though to keep the noise and vibration to a minimum.

I sold a couple of older 4KW RV Onan Gensets a few years ago before I realized that I would possibly need them someday. They were only 120V models.

The 4-pole generators are much more stabile power at lower RPM from what I have seen in the bigger diesel versions.

I've worked industrial and other equipment for years but have seldom had to deal with the generator portion.

While running with a removed air filter cover, lift the filter and see if the hunting goes away. There was an issue a few years back that the branded filters were made in the Philippines with a spec for "anti flamabillity coating"....well, the spec wasn't well defined so they manufactured them with so much anti flammability that it restricted the airflow greatly. Not saying that is the issue, just one more easy thing to check.

Thanks R.,

My filter is branded Generac but there is no telling who their factory supplier is. One thing I noted is that it made no difference with the high RPM slow hunting of the RPM if the air filter was installed or not.

Just following this thread.

Question is this light surging under load or off load?

And I check my database for slow speed jet o-rings for Generac parts line and it came up with only 2 different ones. The 0E5690 and 0E5702. Of course no physical sizes listed.

The info that Bentrim provided had the jet sizes off the side on the carburetor parts breakdown.

The minor slow surging happens when both loaded and unloaded. It was fairly bad at lower RPM in idle control mode until I initially drilled out the pilot jets.

I'm still waiting on the Honda pilot jet O-rings to arrive that I ordered to see if they fit and will resolve the issue.
