Is there any proven benefit to using a richer oil mix than the 50 to 1 that the manufacturer recommends.
Please leave the emissions factor out of the discussion.
Was there a date or approximate date as to when everyone went to 50 to 1?
Just wondering.

Thanks,

The more oil you use the less gasoline. Carburetor will be jetted lean if you increase oil.

2 stroke oils have come a really long way as far as lubricity goes.. Sometimes a little too much oil can be harmful. Mix what the manufacturer recommends and you will have no problems to worry about

I tend to err on the side of rich over lean when mixing oil and gas. So instead of 55:1 it would be more like 45:1. Today’s oils are incredible compared to say even 20 years ago.

I see more engines damaged from carbon build up at the exhaust ports breaking away & scoring the bore than lack of lubrication

Some remove that spark arrestor screen, to help keep ex port build up minimized.

But you could also start a bad fire to the property.
