I doubt you will have enough room, unless you can find an awful some filter. Just not enough room for two pieces of hose and filter. Have you checked, many LB’s have an inline filter in the tank.

Rivets: You mean an inline filter in the carburetor inlet, right? That's where I see them.
I don't have a service manual that new, but I my 1992 manual shows an inline filter built into the inlet of the Walbro carburetor. Have you checked to see if yours already has one? Or is there another reason you are thinking about an inline aftermarket filter?
Standard place for a fuel filter is on the other end of the fuel line spiggot inside the tank
If it has a screw in tap then the filter is generally on the end of the tap

Depending on the serial number you might already have a filter in the tank line. Sn 003900001-004999999 [93-94] had in tank line filters. SN: 005900001 - 005999999 [95] doesn't indicate a filter.
