I have even cut the filter to half its thickness but the weedwacker will only start, and run perfectly, if the filter screen is removed.
Any one have an idea why this is happening.
Take a 5/8 or 16mm socket and remove the tube/port on the muffler and try running. See if it is clogged or carboned up.

If the port was clogged would the engine not run at all?
As i mentioned in my first post, the engine starts immediately and runs perfectly with the air filter screen removed.
It is free and easy to check, well worth the minute invested.
