FR691V with no ID sticker

23hp on a Gravely ztr.
I'm trying to find the right carb for this, but I'm not finding any numbers anywhere. I can see where the sticker used to be. Does Kawasaki stamp anything on the engines?

It depends on how old this eng/mower is but, Kaw has started putting another eng ID sticker inside the air filter area.

Can you find the Gravely model number and serial number? If so, go to the Ariens or Gravely website and plug it the numbers. That should give you any information that you need.

Must be older than that. The only sticker is Kawasaki label on top. And only gives the FR691V.

Might have to clean the block to find it. Could be covered up under an oil slick.

I can't find a place to add the serial number. Am I blind? Or is it hid?

Yeah, that doesn't really give me the actual engine number from this particular mower. Just a list of engines that was used on these mowers. (and a few others). Putting the M# and Serial #, gave me two different manuals. Neither of which had my specific engine. Nor did it give me a part listing for anything on this engine. Mainly parts diagrams and parts list for this mower.
Good info though. A ton of good info.

Walbro LMF-26?
I put in the numbers and it only gave me the engine number. We already knew that. Lists as part unavailable. Maybe this will help.

I'm not sure how this happened. But I put in the same numbers and didn't get any specific engines at all. It went to Gravely ZTR, not to Kawasaki.

Thank you.

I meant to say a Gravely part number for that engine. The Gravely part number for the engine is #08200717

I saw that earlier but, I wasn’t sure. There should be a number on that carburetor somewhere. On the mounting flange?

Bingo. It is a FR691V-AS15

I would definitely second that but I think more of a good lashing at least. Those missing decals stickers do cause me a lot problems. I am lucky at times to have had the equipment in the shop before they got lost and I had recorded them.

About $120 with tax. That's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was just guessing a few days ago when I started looking this up, found one that was over $340. WOW!!!!!! The customer said the same thing. We just stood there saying wow, back and forth to each other.

Then came the awkward silence.

Buy the Ariens/Gravely part and you will pay $250.

Hate to do this but through my distributor that Walbro is only $45.42 but they don't it in stock. As for the 15004-1063 it is $269.57 and they have 7 of those in stock. So you know which they are pushing.

I imagine that you’re right. There’s no telling how many times Kawasaki has updated that part since the engine in question was built. The AS15 suffix denotes the Kawasaki FR691 Ariens Service number. There’s a good chance that calling a Walbro parts dealer and giving the numbers off of the carburetor will get you a correct part cheaper.

Going to the Kawasaki engine site and plugging in the FR691V-AS15, you get #15004–0985.

Now that is confusing as I was using the EU website. But this might put thing in perspective as this is from my Kawasaki distributor as PN appears to be superseded to the PN I gave.

Yeah, they keep updating the part numbers and the price. Has anything really changed other than the part number? I doubt it.

Personally, I would purchase the earlier part numbers, if available. Or, contact a Walbro distributor, give them the numbers off of the carburetor and get a replacement.

It's ordered. Customer wanted to go the cheap route. So I ordered the amazon one, and the Walbro one. If the amazon one works, I just ate $120. And it'll sit on the shelf for a year. But chances are, the Amazon one will be junk, like most of them are.

Customers are always wanting to go the cheap route. Here if the cheap carb is failure they still pay for it plus the one that works.

That's what I told her, initially. When I first cleaned this original carb, I told her the float bowl was rusty and it'll need to be replaced petty soon. So after a couple of months, it's running rough. I checked the float bowl and it's rusting faster than I expected. So I told her I wouldn't charge her labor for the R & R this time. (only the part) But if the cheap carb didn't work, then she'd have to pay for the part and labor on the OEM carb.
She was fine with that. So it's all good. She'll be a regular customer. Any loss, I'll make it up over time.
Plus she's my landlord. And reduces my rent $100 each time I mow her 5 acre yard. (with her mower). I'm thinking If I fertilize her yard, I may not have to pay rent til winter. lol

You still recover the old carburetor if it is only the fuel bowl as you can use one of the following.

Briggs 495933 (easier to find)
Walbro 20-149

There was other things wrong with this one. The coating on the needle was pealing off. Customer was opposed to me rebuilding this, vs just getting a new one.

I'll see if I got a briggs bowl for this though. If so, then I'll just rebuild it and have two (to sit on the shelf for a year or more). Better to have and not need, than to need and not have. Right?

Really how they move. I still got starters that I brought back in 2009 sitting on the shelf.
