Well gave up on my troy bilt lawn mower going to go with a zt now. Looking to stay under 2800. What should I look for in a new mower only cutting 2 acres about 3 times a month

Look at the JD 235 / 255 series, they are about that price.

Cub Cadet® 54 in., 24 HP, RZT L54 Zero-Turn Riding Mower with Heavy-Duty Fabricated Deck
2799.99

For this price range I feel this is one of the better mowers for the money

I was looking at the hustler raptor but seems like they have a few issues like uneven decks. Was at Home Depot and seen the toro time cutter 5000ss. I know it's still a big store brand but it looked legit. Also had the cub 50" looked good too but it was 2900

Tractor supply has the cub on sale

Probably the best choice would be Hustler Raptor w/ Kawasaki engine & welded deck.
I just brought one for my father, and he loves it.
Strong engine and good deck compare to other stamped deck.
Only drawback is it doesn't have anti-scalping wheels at front of the deck and sometime peel off our grass on uneven surface.
Very sensitive steering... might be plus or neg to some... my father loves it because he doesn't have to move his arm much.
We had Cub Cadet ZTR 50" but it has a hydro gear failing issue if you wash your mower repeatedly.

Stay w/ Hustler if you want the new mower at your price range.
Personally I would buy a clean used commercial zero-turn w/ serviceable hydro gear.

I will reconsider the raptor. Looks like I I'll be making a decision on Friday. And I still have no idea what to get
