Well I bumped up the funds I'm gonna spend. Now it's between the 52" hustler raptor or 42" big dog alpha. Any suggestions?

The Raptor is a great choice in your price range, I'm not aware of another brand that offers a fabricated deck in that range. The Raptor blade tip speed is matched to the top end speed of the mower, so you get a great cut even at top speed. Kawasaki power is the way to go. I suggest your local Independent dealer for purchasing, they maybe able to give you some kind of trade value for that Troy Bilt (MTD) that a box store can't. Plus, these are the guys that will keep your Raptor performing at it's peak. One thing I would also strongly consider is moving up to the Raptor SD, about a grand more but has soooooo much more to offer, ZT-2800 servicable trans, the deck is mounted much better than the Raptor and the construction is commercial quality. With 0% for 48 months you can spread the cost out a bit, and there is no penalty if you pay it off early. hustlerturf.com to find your closest dealer.

I think the msrp on the alpha is 3299. Just got back from the local dealer and they list it for 2999 cash or 3105 financed. Looks identical to the raptor except a better seat hour meter and a better warranty. It also looks better than the raptor. I think I'm gonna go with the bigdog

I would look at the Exmark Quest E series for that price range. It's our #1 ZTR between 3,000-,3,500.
