engine starts and dies

Some later units now only use the fuel shut off to kill the engine, in that the spark is not killed when the switch is turned off.
Can't see it myself, which ones exactly, folks need to know if this is "actually" the case?

It is a 7000

It is a 7000 engine, i donot hear a click when i turn on the egnition switch. it starts runs for 1-2 seconds and dies. i checked the oil and i dont smell gas in it.
Thanks for the help i got tthe mower running again

Don't overlook the easiest thing to check: Disconnect the fuel line at the engine and make sure it has a steady gravity flow. I've seen a rubber fuel line that swelled up on the inside so much that you couldn't push a coat-hanger wire into it.

This was happening to me where it started and like 5 minutes in it would just shut off. At first I thought it was something with the engine but it wasn’t. What I did was just change the regulator and it fixed it because it was just running off the battery from before. Hope this helped.
