I cleaned that out with some thin wire and poured a bunch of the old oil on the piston. Sure enough, was able to pull it out! Thanks for the advice!

Thanks, didn't see this until after but I got it off with the impact drill. Now I just need to put everything backIf you have room, place the rod in the oven. Heat it to 250F and try again.
