anyone heard of or got a drift trike.
me and my older brother have started to make a drift trike out of an bmx frame, as i refurbish ride on mowers we used a mower axle and wheels for a rear axle.
will hopefully add some pictures soon.
let me know if you have one or have heard of them, they seem pretty cool. :)

Get a big box of bandades ... and a beer.

a winding road and a steep hill... Looks like the old Big Wheel from the 70's

Oh my gawd that looks like so much fun!! I really enjoyed watching that.

And hearing AC/DC Thunderstruck again was pretty cool also

I could swear that is the road from the opening scene of Donnie Darko.

Imediately it occurs to me that the bike needs to be scaled up x2. The rear wheels as shown are too small to generate the hair raising, skin ripping speed that is necessary to generate the type of road rash for great video.
Consider using 2 wheel barrow wheels on both sides of the the axle, a dually drifter, if you will. The front wheel should be 24" minimum and some type of suspension might facilitate an extended drift with less chance of roll over.
And always remember "brakes are for girls".

How about one of those thumb operated bells, a hans device, and a fire extinguisher?

What the hell is that? A Big Wheel for Big Kids? Toys 'R' Us sell those?

Giving it an "Xtreem Sports" name like 'drift trike' doesn't change what it really is......an 'I never got past 10 years old' trike.....

The trikes in the video have the old "Big Wheel" back end, but are somehow fitted with a BMX-style front end, with brakes.

You can't drift using pedal-power/gravity without the plastic back wheels. If you put rubber wheels on the back, you'll need some serious power to spin them into drift mode. Not that it wouldn't also be fun, but it's an entirely different animal.

And you cannot possibly drift (pedal-power or engine-power) without brakes! Drift cars have sophisticated brakes.

@Drummerboy - any progress?

Yep... Hard plastic rear wheels...
I'm thinking ABS or PVC will be best... :smile:KennyV

Silly Question :
What does playing with a Big Wheel have to do with mowers ????

And here is a silly answer ...
he said in his OP ... "as i refurbish ride on mowers we used a mower axle and wheels for a rear axle"
So it is going to be 'PART' mower...
And a slight drift off topic is always welcome ... especially if the drift is into something fun...:smile:KennyV
