Took it apart last night, pulleys were fine, everything moving as it should. I am stumpedThen it is one of the idler pulleys bearings has seized.
I have no idea how old the belt is Do the belts stretch out over time ??? Thanks
Belt will be here tomorrow morning, will let you know how it goesSo - did you ever install a brand-new belt? If so, was it the same size or 1/2 inch smaller?
Thanks for the link, will take a look at the fluid, tractor does stay outside. Putting new belt on tomorrowIf its only acting up in one direction than its not usually a belt issue.
Sometimes guys will over adjust the shift lever to make it go a little faster and doing so can sacrifice some reverse pressure.
I'd make sure the shift lever is properly centered as described in the manual on page 24 and 25.
Some units also have issue with water contamination if stored outdoors make sure the fluid is not milky, contaminated, or even low.
I found a big chunk missing from my deck belt last year, and replaced it. I couldn't believe how much further I had to move the tensioner pulley to get that new belt on. With the old belt, when I hit the PTO, it would squall a bit at first. With the new belt... nothing. So I agree, belts are wear items. To me replacing the belt is a give me as it is a primary wear item like blades.

Sometimes it takes a retired industrial R&D chemist/former air-cooled VW mechanic to tackle a simple issue.Installed a new belt and that was the problem, surprised more experts didn't suggest it
