Do I buy a Husqvarna tractor mower and which one?

Currently I am in the market for a new ride on to mow a 2 acre block with quite a slope on it. From talking to a dealer and one other friend who has one, I am in interested in the YTH2242TDRF, but then I have found another model which is cheaper (the YTH22V42LS). Can anyone tell me the difference between these two mowers? The latter one is not in the lastest brochure, but is available online through some agencies. Also I have read some not quite so favourable reviews on Husqvarna mowers. I would love to hear what others have to say about this product so I can make a more informed decision.

Whatever you decide buy make sure it has vtwin kohler command engine on it. I wont own a husqvarna mower myself.

Well, I don't see either of those models on the Husqvarna website so I would warn you that this dealer may be trying to pass of some previous year leftovers. I can say, however, that the LS(and XLS) models normally have the locking differential hydro trannies. Personally, I recommend Husqvarna products(particularly those with the Kawasaki engines) due to my owning a 54" 2006 Craftsman YS4500(made for Sears by Husqvarna). The tractor was first class, but unfortunately the 24hp Briggs & Stratton Intek engine wasn't quite the same quality as the rest of the machine. Below is a link to the current 42" Husqvarna lawn tractor with the locking differential tranny. Check it out and you can look at and price the other current models. If that dealer wants to give you a really good deal on a previous year model(and is up front about what you are getting) by all means consider it.

I have a 2006 husqvarna with a Briggs twin with around 2000 hours on it. I change the oil every 100 hours and adjust the valves every 200. Still runs and pulls as good as new.
Don't know of the 2242 I have a 2246.

I'll bet(other than the color and a few minor differences) your Husqvarna is extremely similar to my Craftsman, aside from the deck size. Don't get me wrong the 24hp Intek in mine was a "decent" engine that just happened to have the choke fall apart inside the carb just out of warranty. And before that tractor I had a Lawn Chief(Tru Value brand) that had a 16hp B & S Vanguard twin cylinder that was a "phenomenal" engine(retired after 19 years, stille running like day one). I just never considered the Intek to meet my expectations after my first lawn tractor with that Vanguard!!!

I have always liked craftsman and Briggs.
A good riding mower would be a mtd with craftsman steering

Did you notice if that "LS" model on the Australian webpage indicated the locking differential tranny. If so, at least all of my info wasn't wrong:0)

However...going to Support on the Australian website and entering the YTH22V42LS model does come up with what looks to be a 2008-2011 model owner manual(that still may indicate a discontinued/leftover stock model).
