When I engage the mower the blades will not not turn or when they do turn on it comes on really slow and not a full strength.

I noticed the pulley idler is very loose. Is this normal? Could a bolt have come out?

Engaged mower dies when I try to cut the grass.. if I sit idle (engaged) and away from grass the blades turn faster..

Need help

Welcome to the Forum!..cxcal1.. You could have a bad idler pulley, or spindle pulley bearings it sounds like some pulley bearings are going bad bogging it down. How does the belt look?

Belt has some play in it.

Not sure if thats from the pulley issue?

Should there be a bolt in the middle of the pulley ilder?

Yes there should be a bolt in the middle of the pulleys. Can you post the model#?

I going to go with a bad or missing spring

(( racing is the only sport that you need two balls ))

What does the idler spring connect to?

There should be a slot on the front center of the deck right in front of the idler/ pivot pulley arm.

Ok.. I was somehow able to replace the clutch cable without removing the deck.

The carriage bolt came with it, but I can't tell how that bolt comes out of the pulley.

Any suggestions?

And the cluth cable did not resolve anything. I still have tons of play in the v-belt when the mower is engaged. Is that normal?

mower blades still continue to stop when it hits high grass, and slowly comes back when idle on level ground.
