needed small, light w/b, larger then regular 20-22'',<30''; power - doesn't matter
26'' exmark, toro, etc - $1500++. so: 26 from 20'', fiberglass.

very light - you can hold it in your hands in front of you, throw esily in the back of the track, etc.
a lot of fun making it - priceless : ))))

trhank you, guys
who wondered, why to cut some spot with 20-22'', 5-6hp pm takes much longer, than with 17-18'', 1-1.5 hp trimmer? : ))))

there is another self-propell pushmower mod i did while ago, but didn't took picture (i'll draw it : )))
1) to gear it-up, i just wraped rubber strips around rear wheels to increase diam; 2) took upper section of handle off, put it almost vertical - to have "short- throw" handle, to turn it around practically on the spot, instead of walking the mile around it : )))). if it self-propell, we don't need long handle, we can walk beside it and u-turn it with one hand on the spot
3) for ignition disconnect, instead of lever and cable - just two wires on the handle: tuch togeter to shut it off; i newer even put a button : )))))

she's been working pretty good, when got old - somebody slammed it over the ground taking out of the back of the truck, and broke plastic wheel...
nobody bother to fix it - we got 31'' Billy Goat ...

I would like more details on your fiber glass job, what did you use to reinforce wheel mounts, handle mount and engine mount?

I am not the builder but it seems that he cut the deck into pieces and fiberglassed them back together in the larger size thus retaining the mounting locations for the wheels, handles and engine.

Heck yeah, I like your XL push mower. I've run into the same dilemma trying to find a larger push/walk behind mower. I've had the idea of taking a 30" deck from an RER and slapping some wheels, an engine, and handle bars on it.

They gear those self propelleds too slow so that little old ladies and children can keep up...

at first i thought to use pieces from old deck & just feel the gaps, but then started to try diff. shape, so just used pieces (wheel & engine mounts) in plaster shape as a buk, made mold, then whole fiber-glass unit.

but sure, there are many ways to skin a cat - just to make a simple metal box with round baffles inside as a deck -would be much easier and faster - whichever way work : ))
