Hello I have a Dixon Speed ZTR 42" Model 966611201 and the right propulsion unit has basically stopped powering. I have checked and it appears that this unit is serviced at the factory and no further maintenance is required. I would at least like to check the oil level, but it looks as tho I will need to drop the transaxle down to access the fill plug. Is that true and how do I drop the transaxle? Could there be something else causing the problem. This problem has been slow coming on as it has been slowly getting worse over two years or so. Thanks for any input!

Only 4 reasons for slowing down
1) worn belt
2) worn / broken tensioning idler
3) stripped spline on input pulley
4) internal drive wear

The unit has to come out for checking cleaning & servicing
Tip the oil out and look for metal .
If you find a lot refill with 5 W oil and flush then refill with 20w50 or even 60 / 70 if you can find it.
You might be lucky and get a couple more seasons out of it .
They can be rebuilt but it requires you to be meticulous about dust exclusion and the parts are not cheap .

Thank you! If the oil is low, would that cause the issue I'm having? I am planning to drop the hydro tomorrow and see what I have.

If the oil is low then you will have leaks visible when the unit is removed.
Parts & service information come from the transmission makers not Dixon or Husqvarna
