DGT6000 runs rich

Working on a DGT6000 with a CV740s Kohler 27Hp V twin. It was blowing black smoke and running rich, had a dirty air filter and an aftermarket carb that had been put on a few years back. I replaced the air filter and put another aftermarket carb on. It seemed to run fine until after 30 minuets or so of mowing when hitting a heavy spot and the governor kicks in it blows black smoke. Then would blow black smoke and stumble when the deck was engaged, revs up fine with the deck off. Plugs are carboned up black indicating a rich condition. I'm putting the blame on the carburetor yet, or is there something else I should be looking at? I don't have the original carb as this is a second hand machine.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Been messing with this a bit I have about a 1.5" Lip at my garage door. If I hit it fast and it bounces the tractor it starts sputtering and blows smoke then "catches up". Can kind of mimic the same thing by shaking the tractor. Thought maybe a bad wire in the safety switch system somewhere. I tied both the seat and clutch switches down separately and ran over the lip, same result. Then I shut the key off at wide open throttle sitting still and let the engine start to slow down then turned the key back to run. Engine just speeds back up with no smoke. What it's doing is closer mimicked by pulling the choke out then pushing it back in. Sputters, blows smoke then slowly regains full RPM.
