Working on a LT 1045, Model 13AX11CH712, S/N 1A115H10684

Looking at a new owners deck, without a history, and I do not see a way the deck belt keeps tensioned I see in the parts listing a couple of brackets with
the same parts number, 783-05118 that appear to be bolted, sandwiched, together. One bracket has a 4.25" 756-04129 pulley, the other has a 3.5" 756-0627D pulley.

Is this the most recent arrangement that supposedly resolved the belt retention issue
with this deck I have read about?

Thanks in advance,

bartles

Thanks for your reply........................this deck does not have the item 46 brackets. Evidently at some point
in its history someone has "jury-rigged" what was probably considered a fix for belt retention.

Looks like its fabrication time since those brackets are not available from CC.

I appreciate the help,

I reckon MTD is has started killing off old mowers too. Looks like my distributor has dropped their balls yet again as price price didn't show NLA status on the 783-05118 part. Or they are just playing with them in the back room.

My distributor is showing NLA. But I also have been seeing items in parts catalog that show as new items or items that are still in the catalog that are NLA at the time of printing.

And that is getting very frustrating. Ordering to find later they are NLA and then having that repairs are not possible after I done quoted out the repair.

If your belt tension is not adequate, you may need to buy a spring at hardware store that is close enough and will work. In a pinch you can heat up existing spring and cut it shorter to restore good belt tension.

Looks like the 783-05118 was used on the 07-08 models so that part would of been discontinued by MTD standards in 2013.

Belt retension issues are usually caused by the pivot points egging and wearing one side allowing the the idlers to tilt then belts run off the tilted idlers.
Now if the belt length is the issue the OP can try a shorter belt. Gravely/Ariens 07241800 is the next size down at 121-5/16. THen is also one on Amazon that is 121-1/2. Either could be used in place of the 122 belt. Much easier to install a slightly shorter belt than modify things.
