Wondering if the pros could give opinions on these journals and surfaces. Mower was hammering like a rod knocking while running and cutting fine. Turned out to be a cam in two pieces. Can't believe it actually ran and cut. This second cam (used) lasted about 5 seasons. First cam was replaced due to compression relief failure.

That is the correct part number and no, it doesn't appear to have a hole in the center.. Did your old ones have one?

Yes; old rods did have the hole.

Polished all the rotating surfaces today and they look much better now. I think I will use full synthetic in this old mower upon reassembly since "she" has made it this far (24 years).

Any chance someone on here has the cam end play tool and could scan so I can 3d print the tool?

You should able to make the tool without the scan. Here is what it looks like. Basically it is just a flat piece on metal with a hole for the camshaft and three mounting holes.

Thanks. Realized I can make a template from the bottom of the crankcase.

EDIT: Attached is a redesigned 3D printable variant of the KO1031 endplay tool, which should be OK for my lawnmowers. I don't suggest this alternate tool if your mower is rocket propelled. :)

Anyone have a part number for the rod bolts (6mm straight shank)? CV15S-41567 Diagram is showing rod bolts only with piston-rod kit.

Kohler does NOT offer the rod bolts [screws] separately. You must purchase the rod in order to get them from Kohler.
