Hi Guys. Just been looking at a site that I might price up, but want to make sure my machine will manage cutting it every 10 days. Will a grasshopper zero turn manage this ok ?. Do they cut in the wet ok aswell. Hope someone can help.

42'' is a bit small but it will cut it. The only thing is I don't like cutting wet grass it is hard on the mower and will cause stalling. Also it required that you clean out under the deck after you mow to keep it from rusting out the deck. A 42'' Zero turn is much better and faster than a 42" tractor.

Like was said... 42 inch mower will do it... But you will be looking for a Larger mower eventually.... :smile:KennyV

I agree with the others 42 will do it, but this is one time when bigger is better. Don't know how fast zero turn rigs are my tractor is rated at almost 9 mph. Personally, I don't like to cut that fast. My grass is thick and wet so I take my time and it takes what it takes. My deck is 52 inches. I spend half the time I did with my 46 inch.

No lawn mower is designed to cut wet grass. Wet grass clogs up your blades and bogs the machine down. That can result in damage to the spindles, etc. Always let the grass dry out first. Also,I'd tell the homeowner to let you cut it every 7 days, not 10. Thats just an extra three days for the grass to grow taller and thicker. On my large properties that I cut 1.5-5.6 acres,I will only cut them once a week except for in the fall. If they can't go for that,I tell them to look in the yellow pages. Cutting large properties puts alot of wear and tear on a mower,so try to cut them before the grass gets too tall.. Keep the strain on the mower down.

Although a 42" deck would manage what you want to cut, You would be looking at somewhere around an hour per acre with a 42" depending on the area. If that was all I was mowing personally I'd opt for at least a 54 " deck and cut my time.

We use a 42" Walker all the time on acreages. It will take time but can be done. As for mowing wet grass the Walker will do it but NO mower really likes it. You will not get your best cut on wet grass. I would only do it weekly any longer and you are asking for trouble.

If you have to cut wet grass it is best to use blades made for bagging. Mulching blades like to keep the grass in the deck and will clog up easy
