Cub Cadet BC210 String Trimmer/Brush Cutter

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the "Barrier Bar" on the "D" handle is, and what is the protrusion on the front of the whip shroud is on the Cub Cadet BC210 String Trimmer/Brush Cutter?

I am not sure on the barrier bar either. I took the thing off my first one in a few minutes running and never installed it back on my second one.

The protrusion on the front keeps it from flying sideways with the cutter blade on it.

They are great trimmers for the money. I killed one of mine but the other one is still running strong.
 
I think the barrier bar has something to do with holding onto it to reduce strain, but i might be wrong. How does the protrusion prevent it from humping sideways though?

Put the protrusion next to the bush you are cutting and it functions as a stop to hold it in place.
 
I under stand that for the protrusion on the front of it, but how does the barrier bar prevent this? If you dont use it as a handle what do you do with it?

Now that's a good question, and one I really don't have an answer to. My only guess would be that the trimmer head spins one direction moving the unit a bit that way, but then the bar helps balance it because it's on the other side??
