What I should have mentioned when I deleted my incorrect post about belts was to get under the mower and check that the drive shaft is rotating.
Grab it very carefully, or try jambing a block of wood between it and the transmission hub to see if you can stop it easily
The tranny has a uni joint at both ends just like a car or truck tailshaft.
It is bolted onto the flywheel at the engine end and to the tranny at the other end.
Very rare for it to fail & usually very noisy if it does.
