I dont about anybody else. Im getting little bit irritated with people on CL. Last year was pricing on tires and inner tubes at TSC and now its seat. I had someone text me about needing a seat that was in perfect condition so they could resell a mower. I responded with I have one thats on Murray. He asked how much. I said $60. He said he couldnt afford that cause new is $60 at TSC. I responded back saying There's is aftermarket and mine is OEM and has the built in seat switch. I suggest to buy the new one for $60. Murray seat part number 91965 subs to 92387MA retails new for $139. I have same mowers on CL that I have in market forum on here.

I"m thinking of parting out a couple of machines, but i hesitate for exactly that reason. I need to get this place cleaned up, though...

I have better results selling used parts on ebay than I do in my local area. I guess people in my local area are too cheap right now.

Used parts sell haft price from new at any salvage yard. Good used seats are hard to come by around here and I also find that when I do find a good used seat that plastic covering starts to get hard a bridle. I find that a good used seat go for around 40 to 60 dollars so you aren't off on your price at all. For sure that person had better buy his seat at TSC and then he gets a new seat that doesn't fit anything.

This seat doesnt have that thin plastic covering on it. Its heavier rubber type covering that Murray used on the Murray mowers back in the 90's. This seat is on a 1994 model Murray rider.

What's a gearbox for an old belt drive exmark bringing nowadays? The chain is rusted solid, so I gotta take the gearbox, or at least the chain, off first, so I can move the machine

Mower Salvage yards around where I live get !/2 the price of new. They also have no shortage of customers looking for used cheap parts. If you can find a demand for a old rusted used exmark gear box its worth what ever you can get. If no one wants or needs this gear box it is worth junk price. I have been into restoring old cars and found that a hard to find used part can cost 100 times more then it cost new. Not too long ago I had to pay 50 dollars for a used 1946 Johnson outboard motor coil and bought it as is.

Whenever I set a price for an item I list on C-list, I pretty much stay at my price. Why? Many people are "low ballers" so they can buy what YOU have for a low price and then resell it for profit. Make sure your item is clean and works as advertised. If I answer an ad for someone looking for a part, that also stays firm. Why would they put out an ad for looking for something when he CAN buy it locally? I also will trade for services. Many times, one mans junk is another mans treasure. I got a commercial lawn-boy mower one time for 10 dollars because the owner didn't want it leaking in his garage.
