I've tried a couple searches and not found the answer yet. I just want to run to Tractor Supply tomorrow and buy a drive belt. I think I have an early 2000 Craftsman LT1000 - it had a Peerless Tecumseh 6-speed rear end, but that grenaded last Saturday, and I could only find a Spicer 6-speed rear end locally. It bolted in ok, but the drive belt on this old beast looked horrible, with a few cracks almost all the way through, but I decided to give it a try. Sadly, it jumped off after about 3 hours of cutting, so I just want to put a new one on, but I can't find the belt length. All the videos on youtube are for hydrostats, and I'm worried the belt length is different for the 6-speeds. Can anyone confirm the belt length and width? Thanks! Dave

Hope this can help you, I have an LTX1000 2002 and the main drive belt is a Craftsman 130801 belt it is 1/2 x 95in. As always mentioned here be sure to use the proper length belt ( I also know this from past experience) Its hell to get the belt replaced on the drive put things back together and the main drive belt comes off and you have to start all over. The best is to measure the new belt before putting it on the tractor.

Download your mower manual. Has other tips as well.

Myself, I have a 2005 LT1000 Model 917.275371. It has a B&S engine, is 42" and 6-speed. The manual for mine states a #160855 tractor drive belt and #144959 mowing/deck belt. So back then, I looked up these both and found that they were like 1/4 inch different in length, ridiculous. So anyway, I use 95" x 1/2" Kevlar belts of same part number for both, and have only changed the tractor drive belt a couple of times. Since I mow stuff like tumbleweeds, I do replace the mowing/deck belt more often. Only use Kevlar belts, and keep all the deck pulleys and stuff as clean as possible.
