I didn't about the gasket being 180 out but yes they are slightly different. Only seen a couple customer installed the wrong way. Governor should be fine if not surging. Idle speeds may need adjusting but requires a tach as you got to set the base idle and the governed idle speed. If not done properly you can get some running problems like one one that won't idle down or won't idle down after it warms up..

Is there a service manual available for this engine? I looked for one on Briggs and Stratton's website and didn't see one for my model number.
Thank you for the help getting it running again.

Don't mess with the governor. That is not an adjustment to be tinkered with.

Did a tension spring come off down below the carburetor? Is the idle adjustment screw set too far out?

Did you replace the intake seals to the heads and gaskets as needed?

Is this an Amazon or Ebay copycat carburetor? They are not all bad, but they are not all good.

I used the mower to mow my back lawn and it ran great. Yes, it is an Amazon copy but with a little help from some guys on this site, I got it right. HUGE HELP!
