It is a California Trimmer. (They have a Facebook page) They been around for years.
The adjustment for the height is on the right side and moves the FRONT wheels up and down.
They do cut short. That is what they are designed for. About 2 inches max.

Yes Sir, I am familiar with them. I used to work for a landscape co. when I was in High School(1972-73) and RAN behind a Ca. Trimmer after school every day. I thought they could be adjusted to cut a bit higher as we mowed some pretty beater lawns.

I see there are a few other makes of trimmer type mowers.

Does anyone know if any of these have a higher cutting height than my Ca. Trimmer I just bought??

Time for more research, unless someone here can share their knowledge:anyone:

I really like a tall lawn, but I LOVE the Ca. Trimmer style of cutting - hope I can find a remedy for my dilema

Reel mowers are a specialist field.
Down here they are usually sold by a specialist reel mower shop.
Because the front rollers flatten the ggrass before the blade cuts it they can not cut tall.
They are designed specifically to cut soft low growing grasses low & flat.
The only ones that I know which can cut high are the Ransoms which do not have front rollers and are generally used with a sulky.
