I recently bought a gravely 1028 at a garage sale. After extensively going through the electrics narrowed down a starting problem to the selonoid and replaced. Initially worked fine then after about 10-15 minutes of running suddenly quit a d had fried the new selonoid. Thanks

Caspian, Could the ignition spring load be weak or sticking which would continue to ask for current from the battery and thus fry the solenoid contacts?

Sure sound good to me. All a solenoid is a on, off switch and not too much can happen to it.
